Roland’s Swiss Pastry & Bakery caters breakfast pastries, specialty desserts, handmade pralines, chocolate truffle cake, cookies, and European style Wurstbrot (deli platter) for your Office Party, Meeting, get-together, or just to say THANK-YOU or HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your colleagues or boss.

Imported specialties from Europe are available upon request, as well as hard-to-find European meats and sausages.


Roland’s Swiss Pastry & Bakery originated as a small pizza bakery in early 1962 by Roland Lanz. Due to increasing public demand Roland’s business continued growing, and in early 1967, Roland moved the popular pizza bakery to a location on Del Monte Drive. He also converted his Pizza Bakery into a full service retail bakery and restaurant, specializing in the European foods from his homeland in Switzerland. Throughout that time Roland remained the sole owner of the bakery until his retirement in 1992, when Gerhard Schaefer and his wife Elvira purchased the bakery.


Gerhard is a Master Pastry Chef, who received his certification in Stuttgart, Germany. He then honed his craft by working for a diverse clientele, such as Sheiks, Royalty, and top of the line resorts. Elvira went to Hotel and Management School in Munich, Germany. Her background in prestigious hotels in Europe, including the famed Kempinski Hotel Chains. During this time, Elvira perfected her business and management skills. Elvira is the Chief Financial Officer of the corporation shared with Gerhard. She manages Roland’s Swiss Pastry & Bakery in Houston, TX.
