Roland's Swiss Pastry & Bakery started as a pizza bakery in 1962 by Roland Lanz. Roland's business continued growing, and in the early 1970's Roland moved the bakery to its present location on Del Monte Drive.  He also converted his Pizza Bakery into a full service retail bakery and restaurant, specializing in the European foods from his homeland in Switzerland. Roland remained the owner of the bakery until his retirement in 1991.

In 1991, Gerhard Schaefer and his wife Elvira purchased the bakery. Gerhard is a Master Pastry Chef, who received his certification in Stuttgart, Germany.   He then honed his craft by working for a diverse clientele, such as Sheiks, Royalty, and top of the line resorts. 

Elvira went to Hotel and Restaurant School in Munich, Germany.  She then worked at many prestigious hotels in Europe, including the famed Kempenski Hotel Chains.  During this time, Elvira perfected her business and management skills.  Elvira is the Chief Financial Officer of the corporation shared with Gerhard.  She manages Roland's Swiss Pastry & Bakery.
